We aren't just a brand. We make what we design... In this space with these tools... click here for pdf of text below!
Founded in 2009 and incorporated soon after, sketch to form, inc. is a low-volume manufacturer of Made in the USA furniture. We hand-make limited and unlimited runs of our pieces in varying configurations; we serial number, and bless them with bad-ass-ness! We design, prototype, and make small quantities of very unique, eco-friendly furniture, which some have taken a liking to calling "art". We’ll accept the art label, but we aren't "artists". Although art has immense and impressive amounts of precision in execution, the overall safety factor is not central to the work’s ultimate success; that’s why we like the differentiation…
Hand-Made + Eco-Friendly
Our work is as precise as hand-made can be… Each of our pieces can be considered one-of-a-kind. We wanted to find a balance between sensual forms made of eco-friendly sources and hard-edge materials + fasteners used in buildings, aircraft, and automobiles, a contradiction we’ve intentionally left up to the critics to have fun with. We mix art with engineering, while being environmentally responsible. How? See our “about materials + methods” to learn more.

- We source FSC-certified wood with Formaldehyde-Free bonding agents in the manufacturing process, made with Soy-Based Adhesives, meeting the most stringent CARB Phase 2 regulations.
- On wood, we use the highest quality water-based Very Low VOC clear gloss finish on the market today.
- On wood, we use solvent-free water-based, Zero VOC, nontoxic wood stains, composed of natural raw materials that are harmless to the environment and waterways.
Reducing the design to its most critical part, all the while matching and countering all of the forces applied to the joints and leaving only the necessities; we cleverly make it so that only the essential is left: eliminate any single part and the entire piece would fail. It truly is an awesome process. At that point, we add redundancy and focus on assembly. Even after all that work, general consensus by the brain-trust typically drives what we should put out for sale.

- Fabrication techniques
- Making our own composite wood members
- Creating more daring shapes + forms
- Evolving our use of finishes and textures
- Implementation of more advanced machinery
- And many more levels we’ll keep secret for now..

- On wood, colored stains, we use a water-based recycled bio content, Ultra Low VOC, virtually odorless product sealed with an all Natural Beeswax Furniture Polish that is naturally chemical free, nontoxic, and unscented.
- On metal, we use a water-based urethane/resin sealer with a gloss finish to encase the metal: resists UV damage, humidity, abrasion, and corrosion, zero VOC, no odor and is non-hazardous. It forms a seal around the entire metal part.
Future Product Lines
Sketch to form, inc. has many products in the pipeline, and we will be releasing them slowly. It would be impossible to make a full release and be able to meet the demand. As our manufacturing capacity increases, we will be including these products in our catalogue available for purchase.
Rigor + Testing + Innovation
Each one of our prototypes is put through a long build-rebuild-testing cycle: a rigorous process that involves learning what parts, time, tools, material thicknesses, capacity of joints, ideal finishes and much more is required to make each piece. We then focus-group with people from all walks of life in order to hear feedback and gauge impressions. We listen, analyze and learn. Incorporating the best observations, our aim is to refine, strengthen, and improve.
